In Bangladesh, an 11-party electoral alliance had begun its activities in a tight manner before the national elections. That alliance is still intact under the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami and they are working as a political alliance. On the other hand, there has been an attempt to form another alliance with Islamic parties of the Qaumi trend, keeping Jamaat at a distance, in which Hefazat-e-Islam is playing the main coordinating role.
Before the parliamentary elections, an 11-party electoral alliance was formed, including Jamaat-e-Islami, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, and Islami Andolan Bangladesh. Islami Andolan withdrew from that alliance just before the elections. However, the rest remained.
While these 11 parties are organizing various anti-government movements, including the Long March, there are reports of attempts to form a new alliance of Islamic parties under the initiative of the Qawmi Madrasa-based organization Hefazat-e-Islam.
This new potential alliance will include at least two parties from the 11-party unity, but Jamaat-e-Islami has not been included.
As a result, there are many discussions going on in politics about the reason for this new Islamic unity. Again, at the beginning of the unity process, various differences are being seen between the parties. – S/ BBC News.
